A cowboy went to a Kiss concert…

I love this. Shared by a colleague, this is from an English 102 essay on understanding the rhetorical situation…

“The first convention is structure.  Without a structure the article, paper, or other form of art can go nowhere.  The structure is valuable for students to know there are certain rhetorical moves which are familiar and accepted within particular discourse communities.  Say for example, you go to some hard rock concert, to a Kiss concert and you decide to dress like a cowboy.  That structure is all wrong.  You dressed as a cowboy may be your everyday casual wear, but at a Kiss concert it is not accepted by most.  The end result of that, you may end up having something done to you before, during, or after that concert.”
